E.S.E.P.A. The Voluntary Corp of Greek Firemen and Reforesters
The Voluntary Corp of Greek Firemen and Reforesters (E.S.E.P.A.) is a state-approved NGO founded in 1998. It runs under the roof of the General Secretary of Civil Protection with the registry number 004/2001 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the registry number 428. Its goal is to create a nationwide Volunteer Firefighting – Rescue Network, which will supplement the existing network of the Greek Fire Service. At the same time, it provides patient- and injured-transport, supporting the National Center of Emergency. E.S.E.P.A. is a global institution. There are many similar organizations across the European Union and the whole world, with which E.S.E.P.A. has regular contact, through its participation and its representatives in C.T.I.F. (International Association of Fire and Rescue Service) and committees. E.S.E.P.A. participates with its representatives in several CTIF committees and exchanges information about new technologies in firefighting and rescue by keeping regular contact with fellow organisations around the world.
