CTIF Women in Fire & Rescue Services met at CERN - New Chair and board elected

en

The CTIF Commission for Women in Fire & Rescue Services met for two days at CERN in Switzerland and has elected a new board of directors and a new Chair.

CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research. It is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research. It has a very specialized, own fire brigade on site which has a mandate to hire an international, rotating staff of firefighters, which is also race- and gender diverse.

The CTIF Commission for Women in Fire & Rescue Services highly recommends looking up career possibilities at CERN - there are open vacancies for firefighters right now!

CTIF thanks Mira Leinonen for 8 years of great service as Commission Chair!

CERN’s Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS )is an Associate Member of CTIF International Association of Fire Services.

The Fire Department at CERN is part of the  HSE Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection unit. As part of its firefighting and rescue mission, it is responsible for handling incidents and accidents of all types, throughout the CERN site, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These interventions may require cooperation with the emergency services in the Host States (France and Switzerland) and the involvement of other internal CERN services. The Fire and Rescue Service also carries out other assistance and training activities.

The Fire and Rescue Service at CERN comprises professional firefighters who have mostly been with a detachment from the emergency services of various CERN Member States and thus constitutes a pool of professional and practical experience from all over the world.
