It is with great pleasure to inform that on November 20, 2025, the Asian-Pacific Wing of the Center
for Fire Statistics (CTIF) was officially inaugurated in Singapore.

As of now the Singapore Civil Defence Force(SCDF) represents the Center of Fire Statistics (CTIF) for Asia and the Pacific region.
Teong How Hwa (SCDF Deputy Commissioner for Strategy & Corporate Services) has been appointed
Vice-Chair of CFS-CTIF and will work closely with Dr Peter Wagner, the chair the CTIF CFS.
Corresponding official certificates were presented.
At the first joint meeting at the SCDF HQ, the following topics were discussed:
- Standardization of data definitions across countries;
- Establishment of essential metrics to be submitted to CTIF to be part of World Fire Statistics
with focus on total number of fires, fatalities, and injuries; - Verification of data by country; and
- Work on feedback from other countries for the data collection methodology.

The next meeting will take place on the occasion of INTERSCHUTZ 2026 in Hanover
(Germany).
