Main activities / purpose of commission:

- Exchange of Lessons Learned with other Member Countries

- Cooperation with other Commissions and Agencies (CTIF, FEU, UN, EU,…)

- Evaluation of Hazmat education and courses for firefighters in the different countries.

- LNG - Liquified Natural Gas: Tactics and Experiences

- Interactive database for Dangerous Goods.

- Work on the adoption of common approaches to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents for First Responders.

- Knowledge exchange of CBRNE and Toxic Industrial Material/Chemical tactics

- Strengthen awareness in the area of safety and security for first responders

- Enlarge the number of participating CTIF Member Countries

- And much more

Way of Work:
The Hazmat Commission consists of working groups assigned to specific projects or new challenges.

Way of Communication:
We meet twice a year, with our member countries serving as hosts on a rotating basis. The Hazmat Commission is also using various types of media to interact with the working groups between our meetings.

Products of Commission:
The Hazmat Commission outputs in various ways. Lessons learned from the member countries are disseminated at a national level. Articles are produced on different topics and there is active participation in other Commissions and international groups to help our worldwide firefighter family provide a safer and more secure way of life.

We meet physically and with video conferences.

We have normally two physical meetings per year  and an internal communication platform.
