Dutch Volunteer Firefighters Association
Nearly 80 percent of all Dutch operational firefighters are volunteers and are therefore the backbone of the Dutch fire service organisation.
The Dutch Parliament and the Ministry of Justice and Security appreciate the efforts of volunteer firefighters and endorse the importance of a well-organised representation of volunteers within the fire service. In order to guarantee the representation of volunteer firefighters as well as possible, the Dutch Volunteer Firefighters Association (Vakvereniging Brandweer Vrijwilligers) was established in 2007.
We represent the interests of the 19,000 volunteer firefighters and organise and offer knowledge and support in issues related to the Dutch fire service as a whole.
