Firefighters’ Organisation of Ljubljana (GZL)
The Firefighters’ Organisation of Ljubljana (GZL)The Firefighters’ Organisation of Ljubljana (GZL) is an independent, non-profit, humanitarian, and non-political organisation that unites 35 volunteer fire brigades and 3 volunteer industrial fire brigades operating within the City Municipality of Ljubljana.
It brings together more than 4,700 members, including 1,132 operational firefighters. Founded in 1995, GZL forms a key part of the volunteer pillar of the public fire service in Slovenia’s capital and is a member of the Firefighters’ Association of Slovenia (GZS).GZL’s core responsibilities include:
- Coordinated development and equipping of fire units
- Delivery of basic and advanced firefighter training
- Fire prevention and public education initiatives
- Cooperation with the Ljubljana Fire Brigade, the City of Ljubljana, and the national Civil Protection Administration.
