Tehran Fire Department Dispatch a Team to Extinguish Wildfire in south western Iran

A team from Tehran Fire Department including 17 skilled firemen and 6 fire vehicles has been deployed to the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces to help fight the wildfire ravaging in the southwestern part of Iran.

This mission was based on an official order made by the Tehran mayor after talks with the governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and in coordination with the Tehran City Council.

The fire outbreaks in the west, southwest and south of Iran over the past weeks have completely burnt more than 300 hectares of forests and grasslands of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province as well as 200 hectares of forests in other parts of the province, according to the latest reports.

Being impassable has made fire-fighting operation very difficult and in some areas only helicopters could reach the place. Fierce winds, high latitude, high vegetation, and the lack of equipment and manpower have made firefighting operations much more complex.

Following heavy rainfall doused the country during the past months, vegetation has covered vast areas of Zagros forest in southwestern part of the country, which easily ignites when temperature level gets higher and wildfire risk increases.
