A drone played an important role when a fire was fought at a hospital in Holbæk, Denmark, reports DR Sjaelland. While nearly a hundred firefighters tried to extinguish the fire, the drone could detect a roof fire in a nearby building before it had developed out of control.
"We have a highly advanced emergency drone who can deliver photos from the air, and also can send us pictures from a thermal camera so we can see how the fire develops," says Lasse E Hansen, Deputy Chief of the Västsjælland Fire Department.
The fire occurred during the night in a laundry room and then spread to storage rooms and an administration building.
No patients were injured and the hospital has generally worked as usual.
